Character Education at Future Stars

S.T.A.R.S. stands for Safety, Teamwork, Attitude, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. These interconnected values define what it means to be part of the Future Stars family and show campers how one positive choice can strengthen the whole community. By understanding and practicing these values, campers learn the impact they can have on their team, their peers, and the world they live in.

Each day, our professional coaches and educators highlight one value through fun, hands-on activities. Campers discuss why it matters and put it into practice in games, challenges, and outdoor adventures. Whether on the baseball field, in a chess match, or on a paddle board, we help every camper develop the skills and confidence to shine as a Future Star in any community.

Camp Directors

WHRH_Nicole McKenzieNicole McKenzie

Site Director since 2024

Nicole brings a wealth of experience and a passion for developing young athletes. Her diverse coaching background spans soccer, volleyball, basketball, track and field, lacrosse, field hockey, and multi-sport programming, allowing her to offer athletes a well-rounded and dynamic approach to athletic development. As a retired professional soccer player, Nicole integrates her firsthand experience of high-level competition into her coaching philosophy. She is also a proud mother of two—one a current Future Star and the other a Little Star—and is excited to continue growing with the Future Stars family. Her dedication to both her family and her athletes reflects her deep commitment to personal growth, leadership, and building strong foundations for the future. Nicole is passionate about helping young athletes become S.T.A.R.S. in their own way—fostering confidence, resilience, teamwork, and a lifelong love of sport. A proud graduate of Capilano University in Vancouver, Canada, Nicole earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Coaching. Her education, combined with her professional playing and extensive coaching experience, allows her to create a competitive yet supportive environment where athletes can thrive—pushing them to achieve their best both individually and as part of a team. Nicole remains very active in the soccer community, continuing to mentor coaches, coach a boys’ middle school team, support player development initiatives, and contribute to programs that promote skill-building, teamwork, and leadership both on and off the field.
